Mat Voyce is 'Your Friendly Neighborhood Type Designer & Animator'. He specialises in bringing typography to life through an expressive use of illustration & motion. After a chaotic crash course in motion design and a keen eye for illustrating lettering, he landed himself in somewhat of a niche.
From designing type driven logos for his friends, to animating for the likes of Disney, Google, Pepsi and ESPN, his work has been seen in big screen title work, brand identities, music videos and global social campaigns. Plus with a combined GIF view count of 17.2 billion, his naive but expressive approach to animation is slowly becoming an industry standard for type in motion.
MAT VOYCE
After spending over a decade feeling lost in design agency roles, working his way up from a design intern to a middleweight designer, a passion for all things typography soon took over for the animator. Starting off with small sets of animated Instagram stickers created during lockdown, things soon took off with daily trending designs used across the globe via the platform GIPHY and a slow introduction into freelance client work.
After a successful break from his full time agency role, he slowly settled into being a fully independent animator, purely focusing on bringing lettering to life through both illustration and motion. He now spends his days dipping in and out of client work for brands across the globe and learning new ways to animate type, word by word, letter by letter through personal projects and type experiments.
